Bieber stated that he suffers from Ramsay Hunt syndrome in an Instagram video.
Justin Bieber stated on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a rare condition that has left part of his face paralyzed, and that he will be canceling the rest of his world tour dates.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Bieber has Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which occurs when a shingles epidemic hits the facial nerve near one of your ears and causes paralysis. The virus that causes chickenpox and shingles also causes the condition.
“As you can see, this eye is not blinking,” he said in the video, pointing to his face. “I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”
Bieber has stated that he intends to rest and relax during his time off from shows. He’s been doing facial workouts to help him get his “face back to normal,” he explained.
“I gotta go get my rest on so that I can get my face back to where it’s supposed to be,” he said. “I love you guys, thanks for being patient with me. I’m gonna get better.”
